Let's introduce ourselves

This summer a group of 15 young people from Holland will go to Jinja, Uganda. We are going to our friends Paul and Willem. They have a foundation called Kisoboka (http://www.kisoboka.nl/). Kisoboka means: it is possible. We are going to Uganda to see wat Paul and Willem are doing there. We will experience their daily life in Africa. We will help with all kinds of projects that they're doing. One of the things we are going to do is to set up computerlessons. With a mobile computerschool we will teach the kids from Jinja how to work with the computer.
In Holland we had several meetings to prepare ourselves for this impressive journey. We learned about development work, about the computer and about Uganda.
In this blog we'll keep you updated about the trip. You can read what we did and how we experienced it all. But first: let's introduces ourselves!

This summer I will meet you in Uganda. Together with the second group (Tineke, Rik, Tij, Sietse and Wout) I will spend over three weeks in Jinja. For a few years I lived abroad, in the USA and China. I never traveled to Africa so that will be a new experience. I am looking forward to that.

Hello,
It is so exciting to write you all, because the day I will see you all looks much closer now! First let me tell you something about myself:
My name is Minke and I am 19 years old. Two weeks ago I did my last exam, so with a little bit of luck I have my diploma of VWO next Thursday (I know it does not mean really much to you, but you can compare it with High School).
Next year I am going to study in Amsterdam. I will be living on my own than, so it is a big step in my life! Now I am living with my parents in Boxmeer. I have a brother and sister, but they are older than I am, so they do not live at home any more.
In my spare time I like to play the trumpet, to play hockey, to do sports in general, chat with my friends, to go out dancing, to be with my boyfriend (he will be going to Uganda as well) and to dream about going to Uganda, of course.
In Uganda I want to learn a lot of you. Music is my passion, so I hope we are going to make a lot of music in Uganda! It will be nice to be in a total different environment, with a different culture!
See you the 11nth of August!
